Blink Me!

A few weeks ago, a few close friends and I travelled to Minneapolis to see our 2nd Blink concert in less than a month. We were all so stoked to see Blink again but we weren’t stoked for the eight hour car ride. However I was pretty hyped up on coffee and numerous redbulls that I danced in the passenger seat the entire way there.

The day before the show we met Tom Delonge while shopping in Urban Outfitters. He was with his family at the time and we wanted to respect that but there was no way that I could pass up the opportunity to talk to Tom Delonge. My friends and I ended up getting a quick picture and he thanked us for driving all the way from Winnipeg to see the show again.

The day of the show, we bought our tickets and waited around the Xcel Energy Center. One of Travis’s Cadillacs was parked outside the venue and was being given away in a contest inside. T-Mobile also had a booth set up inside the arena and were giving away seat upgrades and meet n’ greets with the Blink before the show. I obviously entered and minutes later received a call informing me that I won the meet n’ greet contest and was beyond stoked to be given the opportunity to meet one of my favourite bands.

When Jo Jess and I got backstage I got out my “feeling this” underwear to get signed. I looked pretty slutty holding a “blink me” sign, “feeling this” underwear, and wearing a small skirt and tank-top. I was pretty much the girl I always hated and swore I would never be.

Travis was the first to sign my underwear and he thanked me for coming to see them again. Tom was next and he actually remembered us from the day before in Urban Outfitters. When it came time for Mark to sign, I said “what the hell, I tweeted you yesterday and you never tweeted back”!

He then replied, “Yah I saw that, you came all the way from Winnipeg. That’s rad”!

As I was leaving a handed Mark a Hope Atlantic demo and told him to check out. He said he would but I’m highly doubting that happened. As I was walking towards the elevators, Travis’s assistant stopped me and chatted with me for a bit. He ended up giving me his number and later on in the night we met up. He told me a lot about Travis that blew my mind.

Three songs into Blink’s set, during “I Miss You”, he lead me to the side of the stage where I got to watch the rest of the show from. I was actually standing next to the band’s families. I started off on Tom’s side of the stage and eventually ended up on Mark’s side.

The whole experience was so crazy and I am so grateful. It was way too fucking awesome to sum up in a few short paragraphs but whatevs, you get the idea that my road trip ruled!
